Welcome to the Team
LIHPS is delighted to welcome two new members to its Performance Department who joined the institute in 2026. Both bring strong academic backgrounds and hands-on expertise that will further strengthen the support LIHPS provides to Luxembourg’s athletes.
Emilien Giraudeau — Expert in Biomechanics, joining the Performance Department
Emilien holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Arts et Métiers (ENSAM) and an MSc in Biomechanical Engineering from ENSAM Paris and Université Paris Cité. In his role, he uses movement analysis to assess how athletes run, jump and move, turning biomechanical data into insights that support both performance and injury prevention. He will be stepping in for LIHPS’ sports scientist Charles Funk during his leave of absence. Emilien is already a familiar face. During his internship at the LIROMS, he helped test Luxembourg athletes in collaboration with LIHPS, including the senior and U20 national basketball teams, and helped set up a motion capture system for sport-specific testing at the Coque Arena.
Guillaume Lachaux-Couttet — Strength & Conditioning Trainer, joining the Performance Department
Guillaume holds a BSc in Sport Training and an MSc in Training and Optimisation of Sports Performance, both from Université Grenoble Alpes. In his role, he designs and delivers individualised strength and conditioning programmes, combining performance profiling with data-informed methods to optimise performance while protecting athlete health. Before joining LIHPS, he spent over six years at the Swiss Olympic Center La Tour in Geneva. There, he worked within a multidisciplinary team supporting elite athletes in athletics, tennis, triathlon, skiing, sailing, football and more. An athlete himself, he has competed in athletics for 22 years as a national-level 800m runner and also raced as a national-level U20 triathlete.
